Core Rules of Netiquette

If you're new to the Social Networking scene, you should take some time to review some of these rules now, before something happens and you're referring to the old idea of "hindsight is 20/20."

As always, if you find someone behaving in a way inappropriate to the collegiality of the network, please let me know asap!

Above all, do not respond in any way that would exacerbate the situation.

Here we are at GTDT, at our favorite gelato place.

One thing we do that helps is GTDT.
There are six Elementary gifted teachers in our district, and we each cover two schools. Therefore, we are the only person doing what we do at our two sites, and it gets lonely.
Every couple of weeks we meet at a gelato shop after school, and spend an hour or so sharing challenges, cheerleading each other, coughing up topics for our next department meeting, and smoothing out with gelato.
We call it Gifted Teachers' Down Time--GTDT.
On bad days it's Gifted Teachers' Delerium Tremens.

Wow, Audrey, your state has a mandated time for gifted ed?
Arizona doesn't, so we just wing it by district.
I'm suburban, so I split my time between two schools, and I am currently seeing them about 45 minutes per week. They are clustered in their homerooms where teachers service them with differentiation.

We are also urban. At elementary, we cluster group 5-8 at the home campuses (if we have that many in a grade level). The home campus cluster teacher is expected to provide daily differentiated services. We have an additional pull-out program. At K-2 it's at the home campus. At 3-5 it's at a separate campus one day a week. But we have the same problem. If we have only 1 student K-2, that student doesn't interact much with other GT kids. We don't bus them any where.

I teach in an urban school district. How do you of other urban districts service your elementary students? We actually take a bus to the schools (sometimes the school may only have one identified student) and bring them back to one school to teach them for the state mandated time (4 hours in our case).

I'm a teacher of the gifted in BC, Canada and I'm looking for a valuable, inspiring on-line course to take. Any suggestions?
