I haven't been participating for a long time, but with so many email alerts regarding differentiation I have to say this:
If differentiation as a learned teaching skill does not work, a teacher should still do some things differently for the kids...
I'm the mom of two grown gifted children. Ever since my oldest started school I have been involved with education. It wasn't until she was twelve that I really began to learn about giftedness. That's also when I became president of our local CAGT affiliate.
I have advocated for the needs of gifted children for a decade and am pleased that GT education is now mandated in Colorado. Even so, I am no longer active in the school district, but will keep helping parents by giving them support and advice.
We are very lucky that we have the support of the school district and several private schools. The BVSD GT resources specialist and the Director of Rocky Mountain school for the gifted, a private school, are both on our board. I'm sorry that GT education in Greely has not flourished. You'd think with George Betts and Stuart Omdal in your backyard things would be going well in Greeley.
I hope you hear from CAGT -- seems strange that they wouldn't make contact if your affiliate was having trouble.
Hi Conny,
Yes, Jill Maxwell is involved in our affiliate. Jill is our communications co chair. I have a wikispace set up for collaborating on the start up but no official web site yet. http://bvgtwiki.wikispaces.com/
We'd love feedback and suggestions.
Thanks
Michelle
HI Conny, Glad to see another person from Colorado here. I am involved in establishing a affilate of CAGT in Boulder. I'd love to share ideas and hear your experiences in Greeley. I'm adding you as friend so we can share if you are interested.
Michelle
Hi Conny--Navigating around here does take some practice! Here's my response. If you scroll all the way up to the top of your screen, look in the left-hand corner and you'll see your name, an envelope, and a little guy. When you get a new friend request, it will say "NEW!" next to the guy. When you get a new message, it will say "NEW!" next to the envelope. Click them and you'll see the top of your screen drop down to see all the goodies you were looking for! ;-)
As for the message about the photo, I've copied/pasted it here:
How you delete a photo depends upon the classification of the photo.
Profile pic:
Click on the "My Profile Settings" at the top right-hand corner of any page. Then change your photo on that page. You can always pull a generic pic from somewhere like Google Images, but I'm not sure you can ever go back to the non-descript silouette once you've added a photo for yourself.
Photo in Photo Album:
This would be a picture you've uploaded into your photo album. Just click "Photos" in the menu bar, then click "My Photos" to see all of the pics you've personally uploaded. Click on the pic you want to go away; it will open and to the right of it will be a little box, where you can find a link with a red X which says "Delete this Photo." Click it!
Someone else's photo:
You'll have to ask me to delete it for you. Members can't delete one another's stuff and I'll only do it if the pic is inappropriate, but I will first ask the member to take it down him/herself.
What a great pic! Glad to have you in here! The value of the network grows with each individual's contributions, so I'm glad to see you've already jumped in! Continue to read, post, and invite in others; we have many parents in here who are looking for collaboration opportunities!
