This is my first year teaching the GATE cluster of students in my 4th grade classroom. It is definitely a challenge to provide meaningful instruction and guidance to students who range from reading at the first grade level and not yet knowing thei...
Vice President, Advocacy for New Jersey Association for Gifted Children, member of National Association for Gifted Children's Legislative Committee, grassroots advocate, passionate about my field, replacement Language Arts teacher of fifth and sixth grade gifted students in suburban NJ, near Philly,
"Gifted in the news" what a GREAT idea for a group. I'll try to steer some ppl there! Thanks!
Also, as you noted, friends aren't automagically (ha!) connected. You may find that you're asked by someone who's just collecting "friends." At that point, you can choose to accept or deny. When requested, I click on the person's pic to see who they are and to what other groups they belong and decide from there. Some groups are a bit "less-education friendly" than others, and it does make a difference to me.
A few people invited me to be part of their friends' network and I accepted. I thought
it would "automagically" make it mutual, but I they aren't listed on my friends' page. What to do now? Invite them?
Did you ask about the California video from YouTube? I have posted a lot of vids, and don't know that anyone else has. If you want to know how to post a YouTube vid, or any video, just let me know. I can walk you through.
We have met at NAGC's Affiliate Conference--I've been there every spring since 2005...if you look at the Julia Link Roberts video, you'll see a real pic of me!
Last year, I was the one harping about getting more technology into gifted ed in the US! ...hmmm... ;-)
Thank you so much for spreading the word. People can hear from me, but invites work so much better on a personal or local level. As for webmaster, I'm afraid I'll have to decline--this network looks much more complicated than it actually is! But if you ever have questions, I do have ties to people in the technology "know."
Hi again, Ginger! I was delighted to see that you too are the legislative liaison for your state. I hold the same position in NJ, Advocacy VP. Have we met at NAGC Affiliate Conferences?
I am working on inviting many from NJ to participate, and will send them the info via our web site "all call" and in the forums as a post at www.njagc.org. We will include an article in the next Promise newsletter of our state association too.
Thanks for creating this network and for your encouragement and support! I am directing our web person *( we are looking for a new webmaster, are you available for hire? email me for more info) to include the badge or add the code to enocurage others who visit www.njagc.org to join the Gifted Education 2.0 network.
Roberta--this network has a built-in personal blog on each person's page so you can learn/play here if you like. The good thing about blogging in a network? You don't have to "build" an audience on your own and you can get nearly immediate feedback, which is tough work on an independent blog!
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns with anything here! Otherwise you're welcome to read, comment, and post as you'd like!
Love online dialogs, we need to help each other with ideas and support. See the forum section on www.njagc.org (and that too is free sign up, but I LOVE your color scheme and page set up, Ginger!)
