I have definately seen the game/media element in my student's writing. I haven't tried to change their plot or discourage their story line. Instead I have tried to help them flesh out their story so all the things that they are imagining happen in...
I teach at a private school for gifted students. I currently teach 4th grade and have previously taught kindergarten. I have two children of my own who are gifted and quirky. I am also a musician and play French horn.
My interest in primary sources is a small part of curriculum planning for my students but it is a fasinating area of study. I remember the first time it dawned on me that the internet was going to offer students access to documents, pictures, etc like never before. Your summer program sounds wonderful---I at one time dreamed of being a Library of Congress Fellow. (they no longer have fellows) I'm retiring in a few years and probably won't have time to use all the wonderful stuff that is out there in the WWW. Take care, N.
As I emailed to you I am away from home so I don't have any of the email addresses from our China trip with me. If you want to invite others that would be great. A few of us started this a few weeks ago and are pleased to have lots of interest.
Welcome in! Feel free to invite in others so we can get some conversations going. I have high hopes that this can be a very user-friendly way for g/t-involved folks to collaborate, share, rant, and grow.
Let me know if you have questions or concerns, otherwise, please consider this space to be yours to nurture, grow, and blossom!
