Much of her post could have been written by my daughter. DD was OK with doing her homework in class rather than at home, but she felt like she wasn't learning anything in most subjects. (The exception being math which was at a different school and...

One year sabbatical and homeschooling, how fantastic! I'm sure you will all enjoy the experience. Will that be somewhere overseas?? Years ago, I went to the UK for nine months and it was such a wonderful time, only too short. But then I was single and child-free then... ; )

I'm looking at on-line homeschooling resources and shall be happy to share my findings with you later on.

Cheers for now,
Donna

Hi Kcab,

A sabbatical to last several months! That sounds like a great experience for the whole family, if it involves doing something special during that time in a place quite different from home.

So, are your children going to school while their dad is on sabbatical?

My husband has had to travel to another city for several days at a time. I have worked out that if we are set to homeschooling ds, we can tag along one of those trips and do an extended excursion in that city. One of the museums there has a reputable exhibition on the human body, so we can choose this as a study unit.

All the possibilities like this make homeschooling a very attractive option for ds and me. (Dh goes to Chicago once a year, too! :D) But, up till this moment he has had no confidence in me being a patient teacher over the period of an entire year... I have a lot of self-doubts, too, as far as patience is concerned. We'll do a longer trial in the coming school holidays and see.

All the best to you and your family,
Donna

Hi Kcab,

While checking on my comment wall on this site, I saw your message some months ago that you were considering grade skipping your children. With year-end coming, have you finalised some arrangement for the next school year?

Regards,
Donna

Kcab,

Thanks for responding. One more question though... what does OGTOC stand for? Sorry to be dense.

Thanks,
Ceego
