I thank you for your generous comments on my page, but I'm going to admit...anyone can create a network environment in about 10 minutes (http://www.ning.com/).
The trick is actually getting people to come in and participate, which is slowly coming along. It's taking some work, but mostly it's just screen time and no real skill is involved! I'd love to share with you the educational possibilities of social networking for students.
